How to Install a Spark Plug
The process of installing a spark plug is as follows:
1. First, open the engine cover and remove the high voltage wire from each cylinder, making a note of their location to avoid confusion.
2. Then, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Be sure to clean the outside of the spark plug thoroughly if there are any leaves or dust on it.
3. Next, insert the new spark plug into the spark plug hole and twist it a few times, then use the wrench to finish the job.
4. Finally, reattach the high voltage wires in the correct order and secure the cover.
Where is the spark plug located?
The spark plug is installed on the side or top of the engine. Early models used a spark plug with a wire that connected to the distributor, but most modern cars have a direct connection between the spark plug and the ignition coil.
How does a spark plug work?
Under high voltage, the central electrode and the side electrode of the spark plug cause an air gap to form a spark. The hot spark ignites the gas in the engine's combustion chamber. The spark plug has a temperature of up to 2000-3000 degrees Celsius.
